Ramp4x4 is a dedicated Norwegian 4x4 training app for iPhone and Apple Watch. It combines personalized plans, live heart-rate-zone coaching, voice and haptic interval cues, workout summaries, history, interval-quality analysis, and VO2 max progress tracking. The iPhone app can guide workouts without an Apple Watch; a compatible watch adds wrist-based heart rate, haptics, and watch workout controls.

What Ramp4x4 does
- Builds a plan around the Norwegian 4x4. The app organizes repeated 4x4 sessions into a progression rather than presenting a one-off timer.
- Runs the complete interval sequence. Warmup, four 4-minute work intervals, active recoveries, and cooldown are prepared for you.
- Coaches intensity. Live heart-rate feedback shows whether you are below, inside, or above the intended work and recovery zones.
- Cues every transition. Voice prompts and, with Apple Watch, wrist haptics mark interval and recovery changes.
- Explains the result. Summaries include heart-rate data and interval-focused measures such as time near the target intensity.
- Tracks consistency and progress. History, plan adherence, and VO2 max trends help users evaluate a training block over time.
- Supports customization. Users can adjust interval settings and save presets when the standard workout is not the right fit.
Device support
An Apple Watch is helpful but not required. The iPhone app supports guided workouts, plans, voice coaching, summaries, and progress features. A compatible Apple Watch adds live wrist heart rate, watch controls, haptic phase cues, and the ability to follow the workout from the wrist. Exact feature availability can vary by device permissions and operating-system version.
Free and Premium
Ramp4x4 is free to download. The free experience is designed to let a user complete a guided Norwegian 4x4 workout. Premium adds the longer-term training layer, including full history, detailed workout analysis, multi-week planning, progress views, custom presets, and adaptive training features.
Current listed U.S. Premium prices are $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. App Store prices, taxes, trials, and availability can differ by country and may change; the App Store purchase screen is authoritative at checkout.
Data and privacy
Workout and health information is handled through Apple Health and on-device app storage where applicable. Archline Labs does not sell personal health information. Optional product analytics and crash diagnostics are used to improve reliability and can be governed by the current Ramp4x4 Privacy Policy.
Important limitations
- Ramp4x4 is a fitness application, not a medical device.
- Heart-rate and VO2 max values from consumer devices are estimates, not clinical measurements.
- The app does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
- Published study results describe specific groups and should not be treated as a promise of individual improvement.
- High-intensity intervals are not appropriate for everyone. People with symptoms, medical conditions, or concerns about vigorous exercise should seek qualified medical guidance.
